Did you know that there is a Federal oral health plan, Australia’s National Oral Health Plan 2004 – 2013?

The purpose of the plan is to improve the health and wellbeing across the Australian population by improving oral health status and reducing the burden of oral disease. The Plan aims to help all Australians to retain as many of their teeth as possible throughout their lives, have good oral health as part of their general good health.

The plan notes that approximately $3.7bn was dental services in the year 2002, representing 5.5% of total health expenditure. Most of this money was spent on repair instead of prevention.
